Sheriff presents tips on concealed carry

By Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson Yesterday, March 5, Gov. Jeff Landry signed Senate Bill 1 into law. This bill is the conceal carry bill, which removes the requirement of attaining a permit and training from a certified concealed carry instructor.

Police nab Walmart carjacker suspect

Eunice Police arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of a carjacking at Walmart near the grocery pick up area on Thursday. Police Chief Kyle LeBouef said police were called to the scene at about 1 p.m. “Prior to officers arrival, the suspect fled on foot.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Thursday, March 7 Javon M. Hayward, 23, 600 block of Harvest Street, Oakdale. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS, suspended driver’s license, stop/yield sign violation. Arrested by Opelousas Police.

Tips sought in vehicle theft on Branch Highway

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the theft of a vehicle from the 4500 block of Branch Highway sometime between Feb. 26 and March 1. Access into the vehicle was made by unknown means. The vehicle is described as a 2005 flatbed Dodge Ram 3500, white in color.

State Police report suspect shot by Scott officer was armed

Scott Police were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Angler Drive shortly before 10 p.m. March 2 in reference to a domestic disturbance, according to a Louisiana State Police news release. Upon arrival, officers encountered a subject armed with a knife.

Vehicle chase ends with drug bust in Crowley

A vehicle pursuit which began in Calcasieu Parish and ended in Crowley has led to the arrest of two people in this case, according to a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson. The incident occurred on Feb. 29.

Acadia Parish sheriff warns of vehicle burglaries

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson touched briefly on a number of topics when he spoke to the Rotary Club of Crowley recently, joking that he didn’t want “to give it all away” before the upcoming State of the Parish luncheon. That luncheon was held Wednesday at the Grant Opera House of the South.
