St. Landry Parish Sheriff arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Friday, Jan. 5 Roger Lee Thomas II, 24, 500 block of West Dupre Street, Washington. Attempted second degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Rayne Police seek information about New Year’s Eve killing

Rayne Police detectives are seeking information regarding a homicide that occurred at a New Year’s Eve party in the 1000 block of Lyman Avenue at about 11 p.m. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Harry Richard Jr., was found with gunshot wounds and died at a local hospital.

Acadia Parish murderer’s life sentence commuted

As Gov. John Bel Edwards prepares to leave office, he has signed off on pardons or commutations of sentences for dozens of criminals. The list of criminals granted pardons or commutations of sentences includes 34 convicted killers — including one from Acadia Parish.

Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Nicolas David Spears, 26, 100 block of Orchid Drive, Opelousas.

Eunice man charged with attempted second-degree murder in domestic incident

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Eunice man in connection with a shooting incident on Dec. 29, 2023. Deputies investigated a domestic issue between husband and wife in the 300 block of Rue Dauphine in northern Acadia Parish, according to a news release from Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
