The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. Thursday, Dec. 28 12:24 a.m. St. Landry Parish Sheriff requested assistance at the 24/7 Express in reference to a subject causing a disturbance, and taking items while refusing to pay for them. 6:30 a.m.

Acadia Parish sheriff explains switch to Chevrolet Tahoes

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is renewing its fleet of patrol units. Sheriff K.P. Gibson announced earlier this week that, in keeping with his administration’s promise to keep units on the roads patrolling the parish, a new fleet of vehicles is being purchased.

One dies in Lawtell house fire

State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies investigated a house fire in Lawtell that claimed one life. Just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, St. Landry Fire District 3 responded to a call for a house fire located in the 11000 block of U.S. 190 West in the Opelousas area near Lawtell.

Unrestrained driver killed, another injured in Acadia Parish crash

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on La. 91 south of Clement Road. The crash claimed the life of 67-year-old Thomas Harelson of Jennings.
