Sunset man charged with shooting brother

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On Jan. 11, 2024, just before 6 p.m, St. Landy Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from a victim advising that his brother Christopher Vidrine had shot him in his hand on Muscadine Road in the Sunset area.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Friday, Jan. 12-Wednesday, Jan. 17 John Kasey Thomas IV, 22, 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Opelousas.

Eunice and Fire District 6 firefighters responded to a house fire at the 431 Acadia at 7:56 p.m. Monday. Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown said the house was abandoned and upon arrival it was totally engulfed by fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the house is a complete loss, he said. A Church Point man was sentenced on a child pornography charge in the U.S. District Court. According to U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown, Brodie Carlton Thibodeaux, 35, of Church Point, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert R.
