Unrestrained driver killed in crash south of Eunice

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a single-vehicle crash on La. 3116 near Donna Lane. The crash claimed the life of 79-year-old John C. Ledoux Jr. of Eunice.

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On Jan. 11, 2024, just before 6 p.m, St. Landy Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from a victim advising that his brother Christopher Vidrine had shot him in his hand on Muscadine Road in the Sunset area.

Eunice and Fire District 6 firefighters responded to a house fire at the 431 Acadia at 7:56 p.m. Monday. Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown said the house was abandoned and upon arrival it was totally engulfed by fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the house is a complete loss, he said.
