Murder-suicide victims identified

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz at 1:47 p.m. Monday the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department received a phone call about a female who appeared to be deceased in the Sunset area. Patrol deputies responded to the scene, 2686 N.

Former DARE officer, TRIAD coordinator Theme Ledee dies in shooting

Former St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office DARE and TRIAD officer Theme Ledee died in a shooting on Lee Garland Drive in the Opelousas area on Monday, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. At 4:05 p.m.

Mother charged with drug death of her infant child

An Acadia Parish woman has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide in the death of her infant child. On Aug. 11, deputies responded to Coon Richard Road near Morse regarding an unresponsive infant.

Accused murderer seeks change of venue for trial

A hearing for an appeal to a change of venue granted for the trial of one of two men accused in the murder of a Rayne teen was held Tuesday in Lake Charles.

Gas leak causes 4-block evacuation in Eunice

A gas leak at Vivan and Williams avenue caused a four-block area to be evacuated from about 4:30 to 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Fire Chief Chaise Brown said there were no injuries reported.
