The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Saturday, Oct. 21-Monday, Oct. 23 Tonia Mallet, 51, 100 block of Hope Lane, Port Barre. Aggravated second degree battery. Arrested by Port Barre Police. Derek Journet, 33, 700 block of North Dupre Street, Ville Platte.

Task force operations lead to lengthy federal prison sentences for men

U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that two men involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine have been sentenced. Joseph R. Johnson and Isidro Chavarria were each indicted by a federal grand jury as a result of two separate Organized Crime Drug Trafficking Task Force operations. Joseph R.
At about 12:30 p.m. Thursday a two-vehicle wreck occurred at the intersection of La. 13 South and Sittig Road.  A report from Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef, said, “One vehicle traveling east attempting to cross over Hwy. 13 from Sittig Road onto Perchville Road struck a northbound vehicle on Hwy. 13. Driver killed in two-vehicle crash on La. 13 in Acadia Parish

A two-vehicle crash on La. 13 near Ellis Road in Acadia Parish claimed the life of 75-year-old Michael Myers of Iota, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release. State Police stated they were notified of the crash at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash in Evangeline Parish

A single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on La. 104 west of Lanse De Deshotel Road took the life of 64-year-old Russell John Armond Sr. of Mamou, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release. State Police were notfied of the crash at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

LSUE professor charged with rape, cyberstalking, filing false public records The 50-year-old Eunice man has been charged with second-degree rape, cyberstalking and filing false public records, according to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef. Judson Eldridge, of Eunice, has been placedon administrative leave.
