2 wounded in I-49 shooting

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a reported shooting on Interstate 49 on Sunday, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. Guidroz said the shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. at mile marker 23 outside Opelousas.

Eunice firefighters responded to a trash fire at about 11:35 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of La. 13 north. Two firefighters, Jeremy Faulkner and Blake Smith, are dousing the fire near pens for chickens, ducks and dogs. Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown said, “The city marshal cited the homeowner for illegal burning.” Brown offered a reminder that a burn ban is in place.
