The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sept. 9 - Sept. 11 Wayman E Abernathy, 59, 1900 block of Prairie Ronde Road, Opelousas. Simple battery. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Devin C Carriere, 27, 200 block of Rene Road, Bunkie.
Eunice firefighters responded to a trash fire at about 11:35 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of La. 13 north. Two firefighters, Jeremy Faulkner and Blake Smith, are dousing the fire near pens for chickens, ducks and dogs. Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown said, “The city marshal cited the homeowner for illegal burning.” Brown offered a reminder that a burn ban is in place. Firefighters extinguished the trash fire in a few minutes. (Photo by Myra Miller)
