Eunice man charged with attempted second-degree murder

A 20-year-old Eunice man was arrested by and charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. Eunice city marshal deputies arrested Doyle.

Information sought about highway shooting

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred on the Church Point Highway, just south of Church Point at about 1 a.m. on Feb. 21. An unknown suspect fired shots into a vehicle occupied by multiple juveniles as they were both traveling north.

A 39-year-old Mobile, Alabama, man stopped on U.S. 190 in the Lawtell area for a license plate not working ended up facing 25 counts on 12 charges, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. Yazeid A.

Sheriff issues non-lethal devices

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz announced his deputies are now certified in the use of three non-lethal devices. The training has taken place over the past month, he said in a news release.
