Last week there was a disturbing video circulating social media where a female was handling a firearm inside a car and accidently shot and killed a male subject. The negligent killing was caught on Facebook live and viewed by thousands.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. April 13 Roberta Inez Sosa, 46, 500 block of Collins Road, Opelousas. Possession of stolen things; three counts of accessories after the fact; simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (three counts).

Eunice Police dispatch radio logs

The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. April 12 06:21 Loud noise from the Coburn yard. Workers dropping pipes so loud they cannot sleep. 07:39 Wreck near Ruby’s and Cafe Mosaic. Two vehicles. 12:31 Pipe stolen out of yard in the 300 block of West Oak.

The following is an arrest by Eunice Police. April 11 Dustin J. Gartman, 33, 1800 block of West Dudley, Eunice. Possession of Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, resisting and officer by force or violence and bicycle lamps required.

4 graduate from sheriff’s training

Four St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies have graduated from the St. Martin Sheriff’s Basic Training Academy. The police academy is 14 weeks of intense and strenuous classes that instruct officers throughout the Acadiana area.

2 men, 2 teens charged in street fight

Two adults are accused of standing by as two 16-year-olds fought at about 6 p.m. Monday at Hazel and Benjamin streets. The juveniles were having a spat on the internet and it was decided they would meet and fight, Eunice Police Sgt. Nicholas Cooley said.

Tips sought in cold case homicide

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs help to solve a cold case homicide. On Dec. 10, 2016, at 12:36 a.m, deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident at Meadows Apartments located at 100 Kathy Meadows Drive in Crowley.
