Shooting opens new leads to Christmas homicide

An 18-year-old self-confessed gang member’s shooting opened up new leads to a homicide that occurred during a 2107 Christmas party, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.

Rayne Police make arrest in burglaries

A Rayne man has been arrested and another is being sought in connection with a number of thefts and burglaries. Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly said Nathaniel Joseph Roberts, 20, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and simple burglary.

Lafayette man indicted in Christmas party shooting

An 18-year-old Lafayette man was indicted for second-degree murder in a Christmas party shooting in Eunice. Rontreal J. Prejean, of the 400 block of Madison Street, Lafayette, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury in the 27th Judicial District Court. He had been named earlier by Eunice Police.
