Lady Jays to open playoffs against Hanson

The Lady Jays earned a playoff spot for the six straight year as No. 8 St. Edmund (14-7) will open the 2021 LHSAA Div. IV basketball playoffs on Monday against No. 9 Hanson Memorial (14-6). St. Ed’s head coach St. Edmund head coach Erica Zaunbrecher said her team is ready for the challenge.

Bobcats, Jays hold baseball jamboree

The annual Perry Pitre Ford jamboree will be held this weekend at both Eunice High and St. Edmund baseball fields. The junior varsity jamboree will be played on Friday, followed by the varsity teams competing on Saturday.

Blue Jays stun Bobcats

The Blue Jay faithful celebrated as St. Edmund grabbed a sweep over Eunice High. The Lady Jays closed the regular season with a 56-31 over the Lady Bobcats before St. Ed’s capped the night with a 55-53 victory over the Bobcats.

Lady Cats ready for softball season

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats only played nine softball games in 2020 before the COVD-19 pandemic halted the season. First-year head softball coach Trenon Trosclair was an assistant coach last season and he liked what he saw in his team in the shortened season.

Washington Marion downs EHS

BELLEVUE – St. Edmund and Westminster Christian Academy shared wins Tuesday as the teams fight to improve their LHSAA power rankings. The Lady Jays jumped out for a comfortable halftime lead as St. Edmund (12-6, 2-1) rolled to a 45-27 road victory.

For years there have been jokes told about the alleged lack of smart athletes. But each year, he LHSAA All-Academic Award Program recognizes the academic excellence of senior student-athletes who have attained a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

LDWF stresses safety after 3 recent boating fatalities

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division is encouraging all boaters to practice safe boating while enjoying the waterways of Louisiana. This notice comes after three people have died in boating accidents in 2021.
