Jamborees kick off baseball, softball seasons

The baseball and softball seasons are approaching as area teams participate in jamborees this week. The 2020 Perry Pitre Ford baseball jamboree will be held at both Bobcat Field and Blue Jay Field. The junior varsity jamboree will be held Friday at both fields. At 3 p.m.

Blue Jays roll past UA Lions, 64-50

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead as St. Edmund earned a 64-50 win Tuesday over University Academy of Central Louisiana. The Lions scored first, but the Blue Jays answered with a 13-0 surge including seven points from Easten Coleman.

Bobcats fall to Red Devils

In their final home game of the season Tuesday, the Eunice Bobcats fell 53-50 to the Port Barre Red Devils. Port Barre got it started early in the first quarter with three three-pointers from Glen Pickney, Mehkai Franklin and J.T. Pickney. Frank Lazare also knocked down two free-throws also.

Blue Jays win 2-OT thriller

The Blue Jays outscored Loreauville 10-4 in the second overtime as St. Edmund battled to a 56-50 win over the Tigers.

Lady Jays roll past Opelousas Catholic

Lady Cats win on Senior Night

Eunice High’s Shanyia Toussaint poured in 31 points in her final home game to help the Lady Bobcats grab a 59-54 win over Rayne on Senior Night.

LaGrange sweeps Eunice

It was a fight to the finish as the LaGrange Gators earned a 57-50 District 4-4A win over the Eunice Bobcats. LaGrange’s Darrel Washington had the hot hand early as he scored the game’s first 11 points including four two-pointers and three free-throws.

It was a crucial sweep for St. Edmund Tuesday night as the Lady Jays and Blue Jays both earned District 5-1A wins over Westminster Christian Academy. It was a defensive struggle early in the girls’ game before the Lady Jays rolled to a 54-15 win.

St. Ed’s cruises past Sacred Heart

VILLE PLATTE – Facing a hostile environment in rival territory, St. Edmund grabbed a sweep over Sacred Heart of Ville Platte. The Lady Jays used a strong defense and a fourth quarter offensive surge to earn a 45-35 District 5-1A win over the Lady Trojans.
