LSU to face Louisville in Citrus Bowl

  BATON ROUGE -- LSU is bowl bound for a school-record 17th straight season as the 20th-ranked Tigers will face 13th-ranked Louisville in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31 in Orlando, Fla. Kickoff for the Tigers and Cardinals is set for 10 a.m.

LOUISIANA, SOUTHERN MISS TO FACE OFF IN NEW ORLEANS BOWL

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana is looking to #PaintNOLARed again. Louisiana and Southern Miss accepted invitations today to compete in the 16th Annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The game will kick off at 8 p.m.

Cajuns run past ULM

MONROE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are going bowling again.

5-3A All-District team named

  Eunice finished as District 5-3A runners-up behind the Northwest Raiders and the Bobcats placed  seven on the All-District first team and 11  players on the  second team. Eunice (6-5, 4-1) fell in the first round of the playoffs to Erath, 49-20.

Elton sweeps Blue Jays

  ELTON –  The Elton Indians earned a sweep over St Edmund Thursday night in a non-district basketball doubleheader. The Lady Indians rolled to a 50-26 win over the Lady Jays. Elton jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead, helped by  six points from Jamica James.

Lady Bobcats grab first win

  ELTON – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats earned their first victory of the season Thursday night with a 60-50 victory over Welsh in the Elton tournament. Coach Wayne Fontenot’s Lady Bobcats wasted no time in taking the lead, outscoring Welsh by a 14-8 margin in the first quarter.

Blue Jays earn first win

GUEYDAN – It took an overtime run but the St. Edmund Blue Jays earned a 51-47 win over Gueydan  Tuesday night. Tied at 46-46 heading into the extra period, the Blue Jays out-scored the Bears 5-1 as St. Edmund picked up its first win of the season. St.

5-1A All-District team released

  By Tom Dodge Sports Editor After a third-place finish in district, the St. Edmund Blue Jays placed eight players on the 5-1A All-District football team. The Blue Jays also had 10 named as honorable mention selections.

Lady Jays grab first victory

  VILLE PLATTE – The St. Edmund Lady Jays earned their first win of the season with a 40-33 win over Basile in the loser’s bracket of the Sacred Heart of Ville’s annual Turkey tournament.

Bobcats fall at Red Devil tourney

  PORT BARRE – The Eunice High Bobcats dropped games to Carencro and Cecilia in boys basketball action during play at the Port Barre High Thanksgiving Tournament.  The Bobcats opened the season with a 73-58 loss to Mamou on the road despite a 23-point effort by J’seri Guillory.
