Bobcats fall in Jennings tourney

JENNINGS – The Eunice High Bobcats lost close decisions to Iowa and Barbe here this past week at the Jennings High School Tournament. The Bobcats jumped to a 15-5 lead over Iowa at the end of the first quarter. Brandon Ndubueze and Avery Lee led the Bobcats with six and five points, respectively.

LSWA CLASS 1A ALL-STATE

Logansport coach Kevin Magee got the storybook ending most coaches only dream of. Magee, who quarterbacked Logansport to a state title in 1995, watched his team erase a 20-6 deficit to beat Haynesville 34-28 in the Class 1A title game.

Blue Jays fall to Hackberry

The offensive struggles continued for St. Edmund as the Blue Jays dropped their sixth game in a row. Hackberry jumped out to a 12-6 first quarter advantage and the Mustangs rolled to a 61-21 win Tuesday night at the Blue Jay gym.

Cajuns fall in New Orleans Bowl

NEW ORLEANS - Southern Miss running back Ito Smith scored three touchdowns and wide receiver Allenzee Staggers set a pair of single-game receiving records as the Golden Eagles defeated Louisiana 28-21 in the 16th Annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Saturday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Lady Cats down Beau Chene, Bobcats fall to Northwest

PORT BARRE – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats opened play in the St. Landry Parish Basketball Tournament Thursday night and came away with a 57-43 victory over the Beau Chene Lady Gators.

Notre Dame sweeps Jays

It wasn’t the way St. Edmund wanted its first home games to go as Notre Dame rolled to a sweep Tuesday night at the Blue Jays gym. Notre Dame jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter advamtage as the Lady Pioneers grabbed a 42-33 win over the Lady Jays.

Parish tourney tips off Thursday

PORT BARRE – The Beau Chene Gators and the North Central Lady Hurricanes are the top seeds heading into the annual St. Landry Parish basketball tournament that begins Thursday at Port Barre.

Lady Jays grab OT win

DERIDDER – St. Edmund outscored East Beauregard 6-1 in the extra period as the Lady Jays grabbed a 47-42 overtime win. Gabby Fontenot pushed four points and Allison Lafleur added two free throws to help seal the Lady Jay win.

Bobcats win thriller at buzzer

The basketball game between the Eunice High Bobcats and the Crowley High Gents came down to the wire in non-district action Tuesday evening at the Bobcat gym. The Bobcats trailed the Gents for most of the game before taking a 50-49 lead with 44 seconds remaining on the clock.
