Team Pitre wins season play

The Eunice Mens Tennis League finished its 12th week of tennis play. In the early match, Team Pitre took care of Team Manuel by a score of 8-5 to earn the regular season championship. Team Moosa beat down Team D’Aubin by a 10-2 score to send them in sole possession of the Tidy Bowl honors.

After 10 weeks of play, Team Pitre is at 188 points and Team R&B is standing at 142 points. On Court 1, Team R&B won by a forfeit. On Court 2, Team Pitre’s Phyllis Hargroder and Sylvia Fontenot won in split sets, 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 against Team R&B’s Renee Johnson and Heidi Dischler.

LSU fails to stop Alabama’s quarterback

Costly mistakes and an inability to stop Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who rushed for four touchdowns, handed No. 15 LSU its third loss of the season to No. 11 Alabama, 42-13, on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

Bobcats score big in season finale

Talk about ending the season on a high note. The Eunice Bobcats had everything still in front of them heading into Friday night’s matchup with Washington-Marion in its regular season finale.

Blue Jays defeat Westminster 42-27, await playoff berth

Their job is done. Now, the St. Ed’s Blue Jays await their playoff fate following a 42-27 victory over Westminster Christian on Thursday night. St. Ed’s, which closed the regular season with a 9-1 record, has been a shoo-in for the postseason for weeks now.

Lady Jays sweep Highland Baptist

The No. 13-seeded St. Ed’s Lady Jays were confident heading into Wednesday night’s Division V opening round playoff game against No. 20 Highland Baptist. They had every right to be.

Lady Cats advance

There may have been some reason for pause as the No. 13-seeded Eunice High Lady Cats entered the Division III playoffs against No. 20 Cabrini on Wednesday. After a long winning streak, the Lady Cats didn’t win in the last week of the regular season.
