High school baseball, softball season arrives

It’s that time of the year where bouncing balls and squeaking shoes give way to dirt and the ping of metal bats. High school baseball and softball season has arrived in Louisiana, with the Eunice Bobcats and St. Edmund Blue Jays opening their varsity baseball seasons on Monday night.

The first week of Eunice Ladies Tennis League (ELTL) began Tuesday, Feb. 4 with Team Pitre Sisters having a score of 16 and Team Renee having 14 points. Team Captains are Bonnie P. Kyzar and Laura Pitre and Renee Johnson.

Blue Jays lose to Iota, Pine Prairie

The St. Edmund Blue Jays dropped each of its games in Saturday’s Perry Pitre Ford Jamboree held at Blue Jay Field. Playing strong opposition, St. Ed’s dropped a 4-1 game to Iota and a 3-2 contest to Pine Prairie.
