Bourbon Street area is an ‘enhanced security zone’

Heightened security restrictions will be in effect for the busiest section of the French Quarter starting next Wednesday through at least the day after Super Bowl LIX is played, Gov. Jeff Landry announced Wednesday. The additional safety measures follow a Jan.

For a long time, if you needed an amateur wrestling fix, you had to make a trip 10 minutes west up Highway 190. It’s a well-known trip. One arrives at the last red light on the west side of Eunice, the one with the Circle K station on your left on Bobcat Drive.

LSUE rolls in LCACC opener at SU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT — LSU Eunice Women’s Basketball continued its hot start to the new year with a 108-51 runaway win at Southern-Shreveport on Wednesday to open LCCAC play. The Bengals (12-9) have won six straight contests, the team’s longest streak since the 2020-21 season.

LSUE takes pair of opening day games

LSU Eunice Baseball began the 2025 season much like it has every year under Jeff Willis – in winning form. The Bengals captured a pair of games on opening day, taking its 22nd straight season opener under the longtime head coach.

Lady Cats look to break pause on wins

The Eunice Lady Cats are looking to get back on track after a pair of losses. Eunice (5-19) dropped a game to the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs 48-10 last Saturday and turned around and had a rough second half in falling to the Iota Lady Dogs 49-28.

Some hunting seasons extended due to the recent winter storm

Since Louisiana has experienced a historic winter storm event, which closed many roads in most areas of the state and prevented many hunters from engaging in recreational hunting opportunities for several days during the open season.

Tales differ for Bobcat basketball

The Eunice Bobcats are getting ready for district play and continued to do so in splitting a pair of games against Rayne last Friday. The girls struggled out of the gate and never recovered, while the boys overwhelmed Rayne with a strong second quarter and didn’t look back.

13 former LSU Tigers remain in NFL Playoffs

BATON ROUGE – Thirteen former LSU football players, including Heisman Trophy quarterback Jayden Daniels, remain in the NFL Playoffs following wild card weekend. LSU is represented on seven of the eight remaining NFL playoff teams with the Houston Texans leading the way with four former Tigers.
