VILLE PLATTE — When the Sacred Heart Trojans and the St. Edmund Blue Jays battled on the Blue Jays’ home field back in Week 8 of the regular season, it was a lopsided affair.
For the fourth year in a row, the Bobcats advanced to the second round of the football playoffs as No. 16 Eunice rolled to a 41-14 win over the No. 17 DeRidder Dragons.
The two teams know each other well and the Blue Jays want revenge over the Trojans.
No. 12 St. Edmund will travel to No. 5 Sacred Heart in the first round of the Div. IV football playoffs.
The No. 16 Eunice Bobcats will entertain No. 17 DeRidder in the first round of the Class 4-A football playoffs.
“We had a real good end to the season with a four-game win streak,” Eunice head coach Andre Vige said.
NEW ROADS – The Blue Jays were hoping to earn a first round playoff game with a win over Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.
But it was the Hornets celebrating as CHPC earned a 38-29 win over St. Edmund in the regular season finale.
The Bobcats ended the regular season with three straight wins as Eunice rolled to a 67-34 District 4-4A win over the LaGrange Gators.
It’s not the battle for the District 5-1A title that both teams expected when the season started.
But it’s still a crucial showdown Friday when St. Edmund (6-3, 2-2) visits Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (5-4, 2-2).
The Bobcats are battling for a home playoff berth as Eunice High entertains LaGrange Friday for Senior Night.
