Blue Jays to face No. 8 Tigers

For the second week in a row, the Blue Jays face a ranked team as St. Edmund travels to No. 8 Oberlin in a key District 4-1A battle.
Last week, St. Edmund (5-1, 3-0) stunned No. 8 Elton, 27-21 in overtime to move into the district tie with the Tigers (5-1, 3-0).
“It was a big win for us,” St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder said. “I was pleased to see that our guys kept fighting.
“We got out to a good lead (21-7 at halftime) and let that dwindle but we didn’t give up – they are learning how to win.”

Bobcats, Panthers clash

It seems like every week this season the Bobcats have to face a premier running attack.
Jennings (263), Rayne (349), Crowley (234) and Church Point (244) all rolled up big yards on the ground against the Bobcats.
Eunice High will face another strong ground game as the Bobcats visit Pine Prairie Friday night.
The Panthers cruised past Mamou 42-8 last week as Pine Prairie put up 390 yards of total offense, led by Jerrod Sims (19-194, 5 TD) and Darrian Hayes (21-177, TD).

Blue Jays stun No. 9 Elton in OT

It was fitting that a senior would score the winning touchdown on Senior Night as St. Edmund’s Noah Clause raced with a pitch around the end from five yards out to lift the Blue Jays to a 27-21 overtime victory over the eighth-ranked Elton Indians.
“We fought to the end and finished the game,” St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder said. “This win put us against Oberlin for the district lead – that is what we wanted.”
It wasn’t the start the seniors wanted as the Blue Jays fumbled the ball on their second possession of the game and Elton took over at the SEH 42.

Bobcats maul Red Devils

Eunice High broke a four-game losing streak with a 47-0 District 5-3A victory over the Port Barre Red Devils before a homecoming crowd Friday night at Bobcat Stadium.
Coach Paul Trosclair’s Bobcats (2-4, 1-2) wasted little time in taking control of the contest as quarterback Jaden Brasseaux teamed with Jordan Ledet for a 44-yard pass on the first play of the game.
Brasseaux teamed with Avery Lee on a six-yard gain to set up a three-yard touchdown run at the 10:12 point of the opening quarter. Austin Phillips kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead.

Jays to hold Senior Night against No. 8 Elton

A district title is one of the goals every team sets back in the summer drills and weight-room workouts.
When the No. 8 Elton Indians (4-0, 2-0) visit St. Edmund (4-1, 2-0) Friday night, the Blue Jays have a chance to move closer to that coveted trophy.
The battle won’t be easy against the undefeated Indians, according to St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder.
“They are the best team we have played all year,” the Blue Jay coach said. “We are going to have to execute perfectly with no mistakes and no penalties.”
