Bobcats maul Red Devils

Eunice High broke a four-game losing streak with a 47-0 District 5-3A victory over the Port Barre Red Devils before a homecoming crowd Friday night at Bobcat Stadium.
Coach Paul Trosclair’s Bobcats (2-4, 1-2) wasted little time in taking control of the contest as quarterback Jaden Brasseaux teamed with Jordan Ledet for a 44-yard pass on the first play of the game.
Brasseaux teamed with Avery Lee on a six-yard gain to set up a three-yard touchdown run at the 10:12 point of the opening quarter. Austin Phillips kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead.

Jays to hold Senior Night against No. 8 Elton

A district title is one of the goals every team sets back in the summer drills and weight-room workouts.
When the No. 8 Elton Indians (4-0, 2-0) visit St. Edmund (4-1, 2-0) Friday night, the Blue Jays have a chance to move closer to that coveted trophy.
The battle won’t be easy against the undefeated Indians, according to St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder.
“They are the best team we have played all year,” the Blue Jay coach said. “We are going to have to execute perfectly with no mistakes and no penalties.”

Bobcats to celebrate homecoming against Red Devils

It is a must–win week for the Bobcats as Eunice High entertains Port Barre for homecoming.
“If we are not focused we need to be,” EHS head coach Paul Trosclair said odf his team. “This is a big game for us.”
The Bobcats (1-4, 0-2) have lost four games in a row since the season-opening win over Opelousas High.
“We need to start a winning streak soon as we are running out of time,” Trosclair said of the mid-way point of the season.
With district losses to Crowley (39-0) and Church Point (28-17), the Bobcats need to get back on track to stay in the playoff hunt.

Bears bounce Bobcats, 28-17

CHURCH POINT – The Eunice High Bobcats and the Church Point High Bears fought to the finish here in District 5-3A action with the Bears claiming a 28-17 victory over the Bobcats.
The Bears received the opening kickoff and drove into Bobcat territory before giving up the ball on a fumble.
But the Cats fumbled it back to the Bears on the very next play, setting up a Bears’ touchdown on a 12-yard touchdown run by Rodney Dupuis.
The Bears missed the PAT try, but took a 6-0 lead at the 9:07 mark of the first quarter.

Blue Jays run past Tarpons

CREOLE – It was tale of two halves between the Blue Jays and Tarpons.
With the game tied 14-14 at the half, St. Edmund outscored South Cameron 41- 13 in the second half as the Blue Jays rolled to a 55-27 District 4-1A win.
“In the first half it was very sloppy and we made a lot of mistakes,” St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder said. “I was dissapointed by the fumbles and mistakes in the first half, but we did recover in the second half to put the game away.
“It wasn’t pretty, but it was still a win.”
