On Friday, March 6, the Eunice Police Department Narcotics Division, with assistance from the Eunice Police Department Tactical Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 100 block of Rodney Street in Eunice. The warrant was the result of a lengthy narcotics investigation into the alleged facilitation and distribution of synthetic marijuana within the city.

After reviewing the latest weather conditions and updated forecasts, the school closure for Thursday, May 8th, has been canceled. Classes will resume and follow a normal schedule.

Eunice Police report: The suspect in the Eunice shooting incident on Friday was found dead this morning at a residence in Eunice. Aaron Jones was found deceased by a family member due to an apparent suicide. No other details are being released at this time.

A shooting that occurred early Monday morning injured a 17 year old subject. According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, "At 5:40 a.m. this morning police responded to a shooting at the intersection of 13th Street and Eddie Street. There were 15 shots fired at the home.

Bridge closed on La. 3116

Effective immediately, the bridge on La. 3116, 0.9 miles north of La. 3123, will be closed for repairs until further notice, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The detour will consist of La. 13 and La. 3123. The detour will be posted.

St. Landry Parish public schools to close early

Due to heavy storms causing possible hazardous road conditions and widespread flooding parish-wide, all schools and Head Start centers will dismiss early today.
