District Attorney Earl Taylor to step down in 2020

At a Friday press confrence St. Landry Parish District Attorney Earl Taylor announced that he has decided to step down as District Attorney as of February 1, 2020. Taylor has served St. Landry Parish for 40 years, 17 as Assistant District Attorney, and 23 as District Attorney.

Fourth person arrested in Shell Station shooting

A fourth man has been booked in connection with an October shooting that happened at the Shell Station on West Laurel. McKenzie Simmons, 21, of Kinder, turned himself in on Sunday and was booked with attempted first degree murder and firearms violations.

Fontenot wins 3rd term as parish president

Bill Fontenot won a third term as St. Landry Parish President in Saturday’s election Fontenot won 53% of the 29,052 votes cast to defeat a challenge by District 6 Parish Council member Ken Marks. Fontenot becomes the first Parish President to win a third term in the office created since St.

It's here...Post Office portable building, no opening date yet

It’s here...the portable building to be used for a temporary Eunice Post Office. The portable building arrived late Wednesday afternoon and it is located at the west side, nearby the back of the Post Office, complete with a front ramp.

Eunice Post Office temporarily closed for safety concerns

Eunice Post Office customers were greeted Saturday afternoon with an official taped message on the front doors of the Eunice Post Office that read, “Eunice Post Office is closed due to safety concerns. Effective Monday, September 23, 2019.

Local raid on home yields drugs and wanted suspects

According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “A month long narcotics investigation on a home in Eunice yields a major drug recovery.” According to reports, agents with the St. Landry Parish Narcotic Section armed with a search warrant raided a home in Eunice on July 24.

Curfew in St. Landry Parish lifted

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot announced the parish wide curfew has been lifted. The curfew wais in effect beginning 12 p.m. Saturday through 6 p.m. Sunday due to Tropical Storm Barry.
