Eunice Police involved in shooting after hostage report (State Police update)

Several Eunice Police officers were involved in a shooting at the intersection of Park Avenue and 9th Street that left a man wounded. The shooting occurred about noon Thursday in the residential area after a report of a hostage situation, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.

Eunice Police respond to bomb threat at Eunice Junior High School

Eunice Police responded to a bomb threat at Eunice Junior High School at 12:18 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Police Chief Randy Fontenot. A call was received concerning a note that had been located by a school employee.

Fire at two Eunice businesses

A fire, and more than likely a total loss, occured in the early morning hours Wednesday at Wenner’s Flooring & Paint and Creadeur’s Paint & Body Shop. The two businesses are located at 201 N. CC Duson in Eunice. Creadeur’s Body Shop is located at the north rear end of the flooring business.

Eunice man sentenced to 9 months in prison for stealing cash from bank

Randall Scott Courville, 42, of Eunice, is to spend nine months in prison and pay $5,290 restitution for robbing the St. Landry Bank at 2nd Street and Laurel on Jan. 20. Courville was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Dee D. Drell on one count of bank theft.

A three truck crash occured Friday at approximately 1 p.m. involving a city vehicle, a second truck and a third truck with a work trailer at the intersection of S. Aymond Street and Townhome Drive (nearby Chevron gas station).

Fallen law enforcement officers honored

Twenty-three law enforcement officers, who are on a ride from Dallas to Baton Rouge, arrived in Eunice Thursday and made an overnight stay at LSUE.

New arrests made in recent shooting

Shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, June 19, Eunice Police with the assistance of Louisiana State Police executed a search warrant of a residence at 511 S. Mallet Street with an arrest warrant in hand for the arrest of Brycelyn Ray Anderson, age 17, of 511 S. Mallet St, Eunice.

Running gun battle Tuesday morning in continuing feud

Eunice Police are investigating what they say was a early morning running gun battle in southwest Eunice. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said two people are in custody, a juvenile and a 17-year-old, on connection with the shooting that reported about 530 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorial Day ceremony held in Eunice

A Memorial Day Service was held at 5 p.m. Monday at the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street in Eunice. The annual event was sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of the Foreign Wars, Doucet-Aucoin Post 8971, and the American Legion Post 129 Turner-Mornhinveg Moore.
