Healthy cooking techniques

A new year is here, and why not start healthier cooking? I have not cooked by deep frying foods in a long time, nor, do I care to start now. I normally try my best to use olive oil versus vegetable oil with cooking different foods, and I do bake a great deal of my foods.

The hidden benefits of water

Water does the body good. I’m a firm believer of drinking water all day and have done so for many years. I very seldom drink a soft drink. I cannot remember the last time I drank a Coca-Cola and having an iced tea is a treat for me.
The benefits of drinking water is great for your body. So, I’m proud to say that I am a water drinker and plan to continue to do so.

Tips for goals for New Year’s

The new year is almost here, and some folks make New Year’s resolutions. I’m not sure if I will because there are so many times I break or don’t follow my resolution. However, after reading the following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, this article gives you tips on how to make resolutions, how to make them realistic, and how to get back on track if you have failed your resolution.

Reindeer and caribou

I had no clue what a caribou was, however, after reading the following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, I now have a clearer understanding that a caribou is similar to a reindeer, but in some cases not so alike.
Reindeer are symbols of the holiday season. Legend states these antlered animals have a busy evening come Dec. 24 — helping Santa Claus pull a sleigh weighed down by toys for the world’s children.
Why does Santa choose reindeer when caribou may be equally qualified for the job? It may be due to their greater history of domestication.

Healthy Holiday dessert

A lot of folks are baking holiday treats and desserts at this time of year. I try not to, because I’m more than likely to eat my baked goods in one sitting.
However, those of you who are baking and would like to prepare a more healthy version of a holiday treat, read below. You may enjoy it and it’s healthier for you. The recipe is courtesy of Newspaper Metro.
