Spring is widely considered a season of rejuvenation. The warmer post-winter air that is a hallmark of spring certainly adds an extra hop to the steps of millions of people each year, but a number of notable events, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, also lend a festive feel to this beloved time of year.

The Bulb & Blossom Garden Club of Eunice will hold a program at the Eunice Community Nature Trail & Walking Park at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to celebrate the completion of its Tree Marker Project.

‘The Money-Saving Gardener’ was the topic at Bulb March meeting

The March meeting of the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club was hosted by member Mona Redlich. Redlich is serving currently as vice president of the club. Her program was inspired by the book “The Money-Saving Gardener” by Anya Lautenbach.

Area Founders Day was established by Dr. Ezora Johnson Proctor, formerly of Eunice, now of Crowley, when she was the National  President and wanted each section of the organization to come together and recognize the finding date of The National Association of University Women. Since then, on a yearly basis, each section has had a Founders Day in a particular place and this year Eunice section was at Progressive Baptist Church in Lafayette.

Jacob Matte James and Devonie Matte announce the birth of their son, Jacob Kyle Matte, born at Acadian Medical Center on Feb. 26 weighing 8 pounds and 5.6 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Merline Briscoe and Patrick O’Pry of Church Point.
St. Edmund students showcased their talents at the District Speech and Drama Rally competitions held at LSU Eunice. They are now four-time champions. They were 1st place in the District Drama Rally. Additionally, Rose Young was honored as the Best Actor from St. Edmund.
