Birth Announcements

Kaieus Godfrey Jlayna Andrus and Thaddeus Godfrey Sr. announce the birth of their son, Kaieus Maurice Godfrey, born at Acadian Medical Center on Aug. 6 weighing 7 pounds and 2 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Tanya Andrus of Eunice and Maurice and Donna Thomas of Bayton, Texas.

Eunice Manor honors staff with awards ceremony

Eunice Manor held an awards ceremony Aug. 30 to honor and recognize its heads of departments, and staff. Nickie Toups, administrator, presented certificates of appreciation and plaques of honor and recognition during the event.

Arbor Day Foundation to give free trees

Everyone who joins the Arbor Day Foundation in September will receive 10 free trees as part of the Foundation’s Trees for America program. Through Trees for America, everyone is encouraged to plant trees, which benefit the environment and improve the quality of life.

Lesa Cormier at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Lesa Cormier & The Sundown Playboys. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

I will be celebrating my 40th high school class reunion from Eunice High School next week. (Yes, I know, I don’t look that old, ha!) I started thinking earlier this week, what happened or what events took place in Eunice in 1978. I did my research at my work desk and this is what I discovered.

STEM grant at Central Middle

Central Middle’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Club sponsor and science teacher, Heather Melder, recently received a $250 grant from the Community Foundation of Acadiana that will be used for needed items in Central’s newly dedicated STEM Lab.
