This week’s Student of the Week is Jonathan Keith McQuirter, a sixth grader at Central Middle School. His mother is Danielle Thibodeaux. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to stay in the same area because my friends are here.

Benoit at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Couple exchange vows during evening Nuptial Mass ceremony

EHS students compete Capital Hill Stock Market

Eunice High has been chosen by U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson to compete in the Capital Hill Challenge Stock Market Game. The EHS team is competing against 1,722 other high school teams across America. The contest started Feb. 5 and runs until May 11.

Highland Elementary receives Exxon Grant

100th Day of School celebration at Highland

Highland Elementary pre-k students celebrated 100th Day of School dressed as though they were 100-year-old and they had a visit from “Zero the Hero”.

EHS seniors volunteer at Veterans Home

Eunice High seniors Sadie Middlebrooks, Caroline Mire and Vivian Mire paid tribute to veterans as their senior project. The group visited Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home on different dates and assisted and volunteered during games of bingo, socializing, and handed out handmade Christmas cards.

Attention all graduating seniors

Graduation is right around the corner and much is needed ahead of time for the newspaper’s special graduation edition. Eunice High and St. Edmund seniors are to email their senior bios.

Bulb & Blossom members learn about Ikebana

The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club held its first meeting of the year at the home of Barbara Wells. Despite the recent hard freezes, member Suzanne LaHaye gathered items from her yard to demonstrate Ikebana, one of the traditional art forms of Japan.
