Tips for successful driving vacation

With warmer temperatures and spring season upon us, many people are beginning to plan a vacation. If you are planning to drive to your destination, the following tips, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, can be helpful. Driving vacations can be budget-friendly ways to get away from home for a few days.

Dr. Seuss week celebrated at Highland Elementary

Kindergarten classes at Highland Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss this week. ULL 2+2 students in Block 2 came by at campus and read books by Dr. Seuss to classes and students. They enjoyed activities related to the stories they heard.

Lenten fish dinners at Bishop Ceaser Center

Dorothy Fruge, left, and Dudley Pitre prepare fried catfish for St. Mathilda Catholic Church’s annual Lenten fish dinners fundraiser sale. Every Friday during Lent from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., one can purchase a lunch of fried fish, fish courtbouillon, peas and a dessert for a donation of $8.

Eunice High Quiz Bowl team competes

The Eunice High Quiz Bowl team traveled to Dutchtown High School for the Dutchtown Invitational on Feb. 17. Eunice High reached the second round of the playoffs until finally losing to C.E Byrd High School of Shreveport.

DARE program at Eunice Elementary

EHS senior clothing project drive

Eunice High School seniors held a clothing drive the last week of January. Every donation received a ticket and a winner was drawn at the end of the week. Jordan Smith was the winner, and she received $50. From left are Dominic Schaffer, Angelle Ortego, Smith, Carson Ortego and Seth Darbonne.

Birth Announcements

Adam McDaniel David P. McDaniel of Turkey Creek and Amber G. Fontenot of Ville Platte announce the birth of their son, Adam Cord McDaniel, born at Acadian Medical Center on Feb. 15 weighing 6 pounds and .026 ounces. Maternal grandmother is Andrea Fontenot of Ville Platte.
