Students of the Month for January were honored at Glendale Elementary. Each student was presented an award, medal and a pencil.

Recycling and creating new at Eunice Elementary

Rebecca Miller’s second-grade class at Eunice Elementary recently studied about recycling in science. Students had to complete a project using an item that they were going to throw away and turn it in to something else. Students got creative.

First play of 49th season ‘A Comedy of Tenors’ opens March 14

Rehearsals are underway as the Eunice Players’ Theatre opens its 49th season with “A Comedy of Tenors”, a two-act comedy by Ken Ludwig.

Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Sydnie Dupre, a senior at Eunice High School Her parents are Todd and Simone Dupre. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Tennessee because it’s a beautiful place with many things to do.

Birth Announcements

Lucielle Duplechain Seth and Skye Duplechain of Rayne announce the birth of their daughter, Lucille Gweniveve Duplechain, born at Acadian Medical Center on Feb. 8 weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces. Grandmother is Mary Rougeau.

Attention all graduating seniors

Graduation is right around the corner and much is needed ahead of time for the newspaper’s special graduation edition. Eunice High and St. Edmund seniors are to email their senior bios.

Broussard at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by August Broussard & Friends. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Helping kids find a hobby

Some children may discover hobbies on their own, which is OK if it’s a hobby that they will enjoy and stick to. I think children should get involved in a hobby whether big or small. With help and encouragement from parents, they can feel successful and build self-esteem through a hobby.

The Right Reverend James Wilbert Proctor, the fourth of six siblings born to the late Mr. Simon and Mrs. Gertrude Proctor in Lake Charles, has been elevated to serve the Office of Jurisdictional Prelate of the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Louisiana Church of God in Christ, Inc.
