Second graders at St. Edmund study plants

The second grade students in Mary Joubert’s class at St. Edmund Catholic School have been studying plants in their science class. Each student planted bean seeds and cared for the plants. They also created projects about plants that grow around Louisiana and presented their project to the class.

Grandparent teachers honored at East Elementary

​In honor of Grandparents’ Day, grandparents and community leaders were invited to read to the students at East Elementary. East recognized its own grandmothers. Sitting, Julie Faul, learning center teacher.

Invited guest to ride in parade

Chief of Police Randy Fontenot asked Mary Dupre, principal of Eunice Elementary, to select a student to ride in Eunice High’s homecoming parade. Each teacher submitted the names of students who were on their best behavior and doing well in class.

Birth Announcements

John Sonnier Corie and Jennifer Duplechain Sonnier announce the birth of their son, John Haydyn Sonnier, born at Acadian Medical Center on Aug. 15 weighing 8 pounds and 10 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Marcus and Renee Veillon Duplechain.

Class Act Student of the Week

This week’s Student of the Week is Austin Poncho, a junior at St. Edmund High School. His parents are Cathy Miller and Cameron Poncho. If you had to live in another part of the world, where would you want to live and why? I would like to live in Colorado.

Kenneth Benoit at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Avocados are healthy

A few years ago I would have never tried tasting avocados. However, I did acquire a taste for them. Avocados are tasty, especially in a salad, and I love the taste in Mexican foods. The following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, gives you the health benefits of avocados. Food trends come and go.

Math arrays at Eunice Elementary
