Library’s grand prize winner of a bicylce

Carson Thompson’s name was drawn in a drawing of library readers July 26 during the library’s end of the summer reading program. Thompson was named the grand prize winner of a bicycle donated by Walmart in Eunice. Thompson, 7, is a second grader at Glendale Elementary.

4-H summer program benefits rural students

ANGIE — A group of students in Washington Parish are waking up each weekday morning eager to go to summer school. The program at Wesley Ray Elementary School, however, isn’t a traditional remedial summer school.

Eunice Jr. High, Eunice High new times

Some clarifications on new start time and ending time of school at Eunice Jr. High and Eunice High School are listed. Junior high and high school students begin their day at 7:30 a.m. and dismissal time each day will be 2:40 p.m.

American Creative Patriotic artist

The VFW Post 8971 recently recognized Abigail Miller, a freshman at Eunice High School, for her first place win at local level competiton and fourth place at state for her Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest, sponsored by the Auxiliary.

26th annual Back-To-School Fun Day set for Saturday

The 26th annual Back to School FunDay sponsored by Parents Reach Out Club, Black Men Make a Difference, Southern Styles and Cuts, NAUW & The Tutorhouse will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southeast Center.
