The VFW Post 8971 recently recognized Abigail Miller, a freshman at Eunice High School, for her first place win at local level competiton and fourth place at state for her Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest, sponsored by the Auxiliary.

26th annual Back-To-School Fun Day set for Saturday

The 26th annual Back to School FunDay sponsored by Parents Reach Out Club, Black Men Make a Difference, Southern Styles and Cuts, NAUW & The Tutorhouse will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southeast Center.

Orientation, open houses posted

Open houses, registration dates and time at Eunice schools are listed below. Open house at Highland Elementary will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today. There will also be Kona Ice truck and Mrs. Gattis’ Pizza truck open to the public from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

Ronnie Matthews at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by Ronnie Matthews & Throwdown. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Birth Announcements

Xander San Lina (Leo) San and Cheng San announce the birth of their son, Xander Cheng San, born at Acadian Medical Center on July 21 weighing 6 pounds and 7.4 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Kong Sarat and Srun Cheng. Paternal grandparents are Chathy Hong and Kim Chhay San.
