Registration dates, open house posted at Eunice schools

Open houses, registration dates and time at Eunice schools are listed below. Open house at Highland Elementary will be Aug. 3 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Early registration for kindergarten-fourth grades will be held July 31 from 9 until 11 a.m. inside the school’s cafeteria.

Jackie Callier at the Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will feature a performance by Jackie Callier, Ivy Dugas & The Cajun Cousins. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Chicken soup and the common cold

Chicken soup seems to soothe cold symptoms. However, after reading the following, courtesy of Newspaper Metro, some people come down with colds more than once a year. Myself, colds normally attack my system in the winter months. When I do suffer with a cold, I love to eat hot chicken soup.

Menard, Fontenot announce engagement

Harold and Belinda Menard of Eunice are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hannah Menard, to Beau Fontenot, son of Carla Fontenot and the late Shad Fontenot of Eunice. Miss Menard is the granddaughter of the late Frank and Hazel Bordelon.

Please Say Please StoryTime hour at library

Alexis Douget, a seventh-grader at Richard Elementary, was the guest reader Wednesday during Storytime hour. She read a storybook, “Please say Please,” by Magrery Cuyler. Children created a penguin as their craft, ate cookies as their snack, and won door prizes of a tool box bath squirts.

Eunice queens visit StoryTime hour

New flag, flag-raising ceremony at Eunice Community Nature Trail

VFW Post 8971 and city officials were at the Eunice Community Nature Trail on Maple Avenue Thursday morning raising a new flag, along with performing a flag-raising ceremony.
