Birth Announcements

Amentha Broussard Kyla Breaux of Jennings and Dylan Broussard of Lake Arthur announce the birth of their daughter, Amentha Claire Broussard, born at Acadian Medical Center on April 5 weighing 6 pounds and 4.2 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Lindsay Doucet of Jennings and Thomas Breaux of Iota.

Regional science fair winner

Cole Broussard, a seventh-grader at St. Francis School, entered his science project Energy Physcial and placed first at his school. He advanced to parish and placed first in his division and first overall. At the regional fair he placed first and now he advances to the state science fair.

Camp Jammers at Liberty Saturday

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty Center will feature a performance by The Camp Jammers. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5. Starting at 10 a.m.

Chat-A-While draws winners of Mega Gift baskets and host a social

And the winners are... Chat-A-While Social & Civic Club held a benefit raffle for the Geraldine Brown Memorial Scholarship. The raffle included: first prize, Mega Gift Baskets valued at $320; second prize was a 32” TV; GE Microwave was third prize; and fourth prize was a Cruiser Women’s bicycle.

VFW Post 8971 honors Americanism Essay winners

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8971 and Ladies Auxiliary each year host and sponsor an Americanism essay contest for Eunice students. Students from all Eunice elementary, junior high and high schools enter and participate in the contest.

Hester Thibodeaux celebrates 100th birthday

Hester Thibodeaux of Eunice celebrated her 100th birthday at a gala celebration on April 8 in the Bishop Caesar Center with family and friends of nearly 300 people watching her slowly walk into the hall escorted by her son and daughter because earlier she told them she would enter in a wheelchair.
