Parish sales tax collections up 3% over last year

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections posted a 3% increase year-to-date increase in June over the same six-month period in 2022. Collections through June totaled $46,422,747, up $1,359,259 over the six-month total in 2022, according to statistics released by the St.

School Board OKs staff for personnel office

In a special meeting on Monday, the St. Landry Parish School Board approved hiring a second coordinator of personnel recruitment if a study finds it is needed and if funds are available. Board member Renee Aymond said, “If we already have the job description then we don’t have to vote anything.

Family race track developed

Richard Loveless initially wanted to construct a race track on about 150 acres of property that is on the Red River in Alexandria. But, as is the case in most instances, life had a different plan. “I said we could have a four-wheeler track kind of like Mud Fest,” Loveless stated.
