Qualifying begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Delta Grand Building, 120 S. Market St., Opelousas, for the Nov. 8 election that includes City of Eunice positions. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday.

Clerk’s process moves from paper to digital

Rotary Club guest speaker Charles Jagneaux, St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court, who has served for the past 30 years, gave a brief outline of what the clerk of court does. The St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court office has a staff of 40 people along with four or five personnel working part time, he said.

Parish sales collections rose in June

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections continued an upward trend in June when they posted a 5.8% year-to-date increase compared to the same period in 2021, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

Hospital employee honored for 50 years of service

Her one and only job for the past 50 years is working at the hospital in Eunice. Marcella Rider Prejean began her job and career 50 years ago at the age of 17. She began working at Moosa Memorial Hospital in data processing under the administrator and CEO Doug Longman.

Aldermen give extra time for property

The owner of property at 241 E. Oak Ave. has 30 days to remedy problems before the city takes action. The Eunice Board of Aldermen voted to allow owner Lawrence Vallery Jr. the extra time after it was explained he has health problems.
