School Board increases Christmas stipend

The Christmas stipend for non-certified St. Landry Parish public school employees will increase from $750 to $1,000 this year. The Board approved that raise at its Thursday meeting.

Early voting polls open Oct. 18-29

Early voting for the Nov. 5 Presidential Election will be held from Oct. 18 to 29 with the exception of Sundays, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Due to ongoing construction in the courthouse in Opelousas, early voting in Opelousas will take place at the Delta Grand Theater.

Tri-Parish jobless rates up, workforce down

The Tri-Parish workforce is down 130 people from a year ago in August and the jobless rate is up, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The workforce totaled 67,882 in August, down 130 or 0.2% from August 2023. The August workforce counts by parish were: St. Landry, 31,815, down 142 or 0.

KEB city clean up day set Oct. 5. Keep Eunice Beautiful and KEUN, will have a city clean up on Saturday Oct. 5. Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. in the lobby of the city hall. Supplies, water and a T-shirt will be given out. From 9 until 11 a.m.

Two Eunice men arrested in connection with Acadia Parish burglary

Two Eunice men were arrested by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with the burglary of a structure in the northern area of Acadia Parish. Adam Gustin, 40, and Marcus McGee, 45, are each charged with one count of burglary and one count of criminal damage to property.
