Veterans Day edition planned

The Eunice News will honor area veterans in a special edition. Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11. This is the sixth year for the tribute to veterans. Veterans may update or add information to previously submitted material. Biographical information about local veterans is requested.

LSUE holds Trunk or Treat Sunday

LSU Eunice will hold its fifth annual “Trunk or Treat” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The free community event is at the LSU Eunice campus grounds.

Early voting is on pace to exceed vote of 4 years ago

The early voting pace in St. Landry Parish is on pace to exceed that of four years ago when there was another national presidential race that time Donald Trump versus Joseph Biden. As of Thursday, early voting in the parish totaled 9,220 for an average of 1,537 votes per day.

LSUE fall enrollment continues to soar

Louisiana State University Eunice is continuing its trend of growing enrollment with another record-breaking fall this semester.

Anniversary concert at First United Methodist Church The dynamic duo of Timothy and Hosanna Noble will present a concert at the First United Methodist Church as part of the 130th anniversary celebration. The church is located at 501 S. 5th St., Eunice. The concert is to be held at 6 p.m.

St. Landry public school costs detailed in report

St. Landry Parish School Board members were presented with a spreadsheet of estimated costs to operate its school sites during a Board retreat on Saturday. The highest cost per student was at North Central High School at $16,754.99. There were 244 students at North Central.

School futures outlined at School Board retreat

A few St. Landry Parish public schools will close and some will be repurposed if recommendations made during a School Board retreat are implemented. While most schools will not be changed, the fate of a few remains up in the air.

Early voting tops 1,000 in Eunice

Early voting at the Eunice City Hall reached 1,042 at the end of voting on Tuesday. The voting includes the presidential contest between Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump. Early voting for the Nov.

Fall Into Downtown returning Saturday

Fall Into Downtown will return for a third year Saturday in downtown Eunice. This year’s event features local bands and food trucks.

Belly Buddies wins BBB Serving Acadiana Good Neighbor non-profit award

Belly Buddies is the winner of the Better Business Bureau Serving Acadiana “Good Neighbor” Award for non-profits in Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes. The event was held at La Pavillion at Parc Lafayette on Oct. 17.
