Eviction rights workshop is Tuesday A workshop on eviction rights and housing legal issues is scheduled form 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Southeast Community Center, 101 City Avenue, Eunice.

Not so fun-gi invasion of yellow mushrooms

The yellow houseplant mushroom (Leucocoprinus Birnbaumii) is fairly common in potted houseplants and greenhouses. These mushrooms pop up between summer and fall as a result of spores or mycelium (a network of fungal threads) getting into potting soil, mulch, or in outdoor garden soil.

St. Landry Parish marriage licenses

The following people obtained marriage licenses at the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office. Friday, Sept. 13 Lester Edwards Jr. and Caroline Wheeler, both of Opelousas. Anthony Blaine Landreneau of Eunice and Harley Alexis Holford, of Basile. Peter Malveaux Jr.
Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice treated first responders to a barbecued pork steak meal on Wednesday in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, response to the terrorist attack on the United States. Stiffer standards proposed for parish-appointed boards

An ordinance is being crafted that will make new demands on boards and commissions appointed by the St. Landry Parish Council. An ordinance has been introduced to impose accountability and transparency to about 50 boards and commissions created by the Parish Council.

Parish housing authority member removed

The St. Landry Parish Council voted to uphold the removal of parish housing authority member Willie “Butch” Haynes III at a meeting on Wednesday. St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard on Aug 19 wrote Haynes, “Effective immediately you are hereby removed from the St.

Deadlines near for November presidential election

Voters have until Oct. 7 to register or make changes in-person or by mail for the Nov. 5 open primary election, which includes the presidential and congressional election. The deadline for online registration or changes in registration is Oct. 15.
