EUNICE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Jim Adkins announces his passing on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center with loving family by his side. He was 71.

Shooting Saturday evening leaves one injured

One person is injured following a shooting at a business in Eunice Saturday evening. According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, “The shooting happened in the parking lot of Kim’s Market on E. Laurel. Officers responded to the shooting at 8:27 p.m.

Eunice Police Arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. March 15 Andrew Whitfield, 25, 800 block of S. Beulah, Eunice. Possession of marijuana, warrant. Jonathan Scott Arceneaux, 39, Warrant. Hannah Duplechain, 30, 700 block of S. 13th St., Eunice. Probation violation, hold.

Delton Darbonne

A funeral service will be held for Delton Darbonne, 77, on Monday, March 18, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Burial will be held at Mt Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Guillory on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.

Coupons for seniors at Farmers’ Market Beginning in May, senior citizens will be able to use coupons from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce and honey from the Eunice Farmers’ Market.

Prairie Acadian Cultural Center announces summer camps

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is accepting applications for week-long day camps Camp de Cuisine and Camp Bonjour. The center is located at 250 W. Park Ave.

Fishers meeting set for Tuesday

A preseason seafood meeting for mariners, boat owners, dock managers and seafood processors will be held Tuesday at the LSU AgCenter office at 1105 W. Port St. in Abbeville. The meeting, organized by the LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Sea Grant, will begin with registration at 8:15 a.m.
