Former Basile officer arraigned; charges include assault in May

Shots hit Eunice Police officer’s house

Multiple gunshots struck a Eunice Police officer’s house in the 600 block of Halsey at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. The officer, who Fontenot declined to identify, was not on duty at the time of the shooting and there were no injuries, he said.

All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lafayette (the civil parishes of Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Acadia, Evangeline, Vermilion and Iberia) will reopen Thursday, with one exception: Maltrait Memorial in Kaplan, which will remain closed until further notice.
