Acadia Parish Sheriff seeks 4 in connection with burglaries

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has secured arrest warrants for two men believed to be involved in a recent rash of vehicle burglaries in the northeast portion of Acadia Parish, particularly Church Point.

Lower Atchafalaya races Saturday

The Lower Atchafalaya Sprint, a set of six-mile races for kayaks and canoes with cash prizes for first through third in each class, will be held at Patterson Saturday. The race course is a loop that starts and ends at Patterson’s Morey Park, 1114-1116 Main St. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.

Crime Stoppers seeks information about Eunice shooting

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and the Eunice Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating the persons involved in shooting at a Eunice Police officer’s home. On Aug. 30, an off-duty officer was in his home on Halsey Street when he heard two to three gunshots.

Blood drive planned in Eunice All blood collection agencies in the U.S. are making every effort to meet the emergency blood needs of patients and ensure a sufficient blood supply in storm affected areas, according to a news release from United Blood Services.

Guinn’s ‘Center for Children and Families’ now serves over 800 children

Crowley native Dr. Katie Core Guinn opened The Center for Children and Families in Crowley in December of 2014. It is a non-profit organization taking clients who are Medicaid eligible at no cost to clients up to the age of 19. The Center now serves over 800 kids per month and covers 17 parishes.
