Paving coming to a road near you

Nearly every St. Landry Parish Council meeting has citizens standing up to ask when will the road they live on get paved under the Smooth Ride Home program.

Money for judgments also missing from state budget

There’s no money in the House-passed budget to address legal judgments that have been decided against the state and lawmakers are doubtful that any new dollars will be added to the spending plan to pay them next fiscal year, according to Appropriations Chairman Cameron Henry, R-Metairie.

News notes

Concealed permit class scheduled The St. Landry Sheriff’s Office will be instructing a state certified concealed handgun course at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The course is hosted by Harmony Lodge 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. All proceeds go to local charities. The course is $100 and $80 for the spouse.

Triple murderer Chad Young to be set free in 2020

Chad Young, who was convicted of murdering his father, mother and brother in 1988 and sentenced to life in prison, is to be released from prison in November 2020.
