St. Landry Parish Sheriff arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. August 17 Brigit A. Murphy, 66, 300 block of Natehez Blvd., Opelousas. Careless operation of a motor vehicle, DWI (2nd offense). Arrested by Opelousas Police.

Woman accused of exploiting elderly man out of money

Candy Taylor Angona, 58, of the 400 block of Melville Street, Melville, has been charged with exploitation of persons with infirmities. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated on July 7 a family member reported that his father had been exploited by Angona, who had been caring for the victim.

Abbeville man charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder

An Abbeville man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder in a domestic incident. Darious Javon Lavine, 24, of the 1600 block of East Martin Luther King Jr.

Arson arrest evolves into human trafficking case

ARNAUDVILLE — The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested an Arnaudville man for a February fire investigation that developed into a human trafficking case with several additional charges. Nathaniel Carry, 68, was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail on Aug.
