Last week was National Peace Officers Week. It is a time that the nation honors our fallen officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962.

Eunice couple face drug, other charges after fire

A 43-year-old Eunice woman and her 27-year-old boyfriend face numerous charges after a fire heavily damaged the house they were in at 230 Rodney St., Eunice, on Thursday, according to a news release from the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.

Acadia Parish crash kills Rayne man

Shortly after 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash on La. 13 near Schultz Road in Acadia Parish. The crash took the life of 24-year-old Gregory Leger of Rayne.

Toddler found on street, mom is in jail

A 2-year-old boy was found on the road at 200 E. Maple Ave. at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday and by 7 a.m. the 21-year-old mother was in Eunice Police custody.
