Lady Bengals celebrate national title

CLINTON, Mississippi – Her second-inning grand slam helped LSU Eunice earn the 2019 NJCAA DII softball championship with a 10-5 win over Phoenix College.
Kelci Bodin was proud of her accomplishments of being named the tournament MVP, but she was thrilled for her team mates as the Lady Bengals captured the sixth title in program history.
“I am so proud for my team and everything we accomplished this season.”
Bodin finished 5-16 in the national tournament with eight RBI, two home runs, two doubles and a triple.

5-3A All-District baseball team released

Eunice High advanced to the quarterfinals for the second year in a row and the Bobcats placed 10 players on the 5-3A All-District team.
Iota claimed the district championship with Hunter Wriborg named the MVP and Bulldog head coach Leonard Cloud was named the district Coach of the Year.
Eunice pitcher Luke Andrepont was selected as first team pitcher, joined by Pine Prairie’s Jordan Ardoin, Ethan Hidalgo from Port Barre and Wriborg.

LSUE advances to title game

CLINTON, Mississippi – In a battle between NJCAA Division II powerhouses LSUE and Phoenix, the top-ranked Lady Bengals grabbed a 2-1 win Friday to advance to Saturday’s championship game at Traceway Park in Clinton, Mississippi.
Jensen Howell earned the complete-game win as she limited the Lady Bears to three hits with three strikouts and no walks.
Lady Bengal Kelci Bodin ripped a solo home run, her tenth of the season, to give LSUE a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of the semifinals.

Blue Jays dominate 4-1A All-District

St. Edmund dominated the All-District 4-1A baseball list as the Blue Jays repeated as district champions.
Grand Lake’s Dylan David was voted the district MVP, while St. Ed’s head coach Barry Manuel was named district Coach of the Year.
While it was the Blue Jays who won the district title, Oberlin rolled in the playoffs to claim the Class 1-A state championship.
After a first-round bye, No. 6 Oberlin grabbed wins over No. 11 Slaughter Community Charter (7-3) and No 3 LaSalle (6-5) to advance to the state semifinals.

Eunice runs past Mustangs

The Eunice High Bobcats concluded their football spring drills with a srimmage against the Avoyelles High Mustangs this past Wednesday.
The Bobcats dominated the Mustangs, especially on the offensive side of the scrimmage.
Bobcat head coach Paul Trosclair and offensive coordinator Andre Vige had the offense at full speed with both the passing and the running attack performing at top form.
Quarterback Simeon Ardoin completed six of eight passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns.
Tralyn Cooper caught four passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
