LSU baseball gains MLB draft attention

By Rhett Manuel Sports Editor Since taking the job, there’s no question that LSU head coach Jay Johnson has re-established the Tigers as college baseball’s premiere program. With a pair of national championships, Johnson has brought dominance back to Alex Box Stadium.

Blue Jays hone skills with summer 7-on-7 games

St. Ed’s head football coach James Shiver is all-in on the idea of 7-on-7. He throws his team neck-deep into the mud of the local 7-on-7 circuit throughout the summer in preparation for the upcoming football season. His philosophy is simple.

The Eunice Recreation 10u All Stars team are the Mustang Super Regional Champs. The team won the tournament the weekend of June 27 in Youngsville. They move onto the Zone tournament July 16-19 in Scott. The World Series would be their next round if they win the Zone tournament. Once in every 20 years, a phenomenon occurs in our small town. Hailey’s Comet it isn’t. But nonetheless, it’s a rare occurrence that serves as a reset for Eunice Bobcat football. It’s the rare losing season. The type of gut check that can only happen when a program is used to consistent success.
