OPELOUSAS – St. Edmund put up a vallient effort but the undersized and out-manned Blue Jay squad wore down against the Vikings as Opelousas Catholic earned a 83-49 win in the opening round of the LHSAA Division IV boys basketball playoffs.
PORT BARRE – St. Edmund exploded for four runs in the top of the sixth inning as the Lady Jays grabbed a 6-3 road win Thursday over the Port Barre Lady Devils.
After the Cajun Prairie Mardi Gras celebration quieted down Tuesday, baseball action took center stage as the Eunice Bobcats began the season with a 9-5 win over the Jennings Bulldogs.
The Lady Jays opened the 2020 softball season in fine fashion Monday as St. Edmund cruised to a 21-6 mercy-rule win over the Oakdale Lady Warriors.
The Lady Jays have earned a playoff spot for the fifth straight year and the St. Edmund head coach Erica Zaunbrecher along with her sole senior Kinsley Marcantel hope their season can continue with several more wins.
The baseball and softball seasons are approaching as area teams participate in jamborees this week.
The 2020 Perry Pitre Ford baseball jamboree will be held at both Bobcat Field and Blue Jay Field.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead as St. Edmund earned a 64-50 win Tuesday over University Academy of Central Louisiana.
In their final home game of the season Tuesday, the Eunice Bobcats fell 53-50 to the Port Barre Red Devils.
The Blue Jays outscored Loreauville 10-4 in the second overtime as St. Edmund battled to a 56-50 win over the Tigers.
