St. Landry Parish Government leaders are stressing that renewing a 1-mill, 10-year jail maintenance tax is crucial at Saturday’s election.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters have Saturday to vote early for the Dec. 5 election.
Early voting began Nov. 20 and the total votes in St. Landry Parish at the end of voting Tuesday stood at 366.

Ledricka Johnson-Thierry won election as 27th Judicial District Court Judge for Division C with 71% of the 7.400 votes cast in the race Tuesday.
As of Wednesday morning there was no declared winner of the presidential contest.
According to Associated Press, President Donald Trump has 48.2% or 67,247,568 votes to challenger Joe Biden’s $69,892,239 votes.
Eunice City and Ward 6 Marshal Terry Darbonne won a fourth term by defeating two challengers in Tuesday’s election.
Darbonne won 53% — 2,805 votes— of the 5,244 votes cast in the Ward 6 election.
Political newcomer Chad Pitre won election as 27th Judicial District Court district attorney with 52% of the 39,138 votes cast in Tuesday’s election.
Pitre defeated incumbent Charles Cravins, who ran as a Democrat.
About 18% of the 60,323 voters registered for the Tuesday’s election cast ballots in early voting.
Cheryl Milburn, registrar of voters, said the early voting count is historic.
