Jays down Indians

ELTON – The game was scoreless after the first quarter and the Blue Jays led 14-0 at the break before St. Edmund exploded for a 42-0 win over Elton. “That was good win for us,” St. Edmund said. “We just wore them out in the second half.

Bobcats shut out Devils, 30-0

PORT BARRE – The early going in the District 4-3A encounter between the Eunice High Bobcats and the Port Barre High Red Devils saw both teams struggling to make plays. The two teams made a couple of plays, but both teams couldn’t avoid the penalty bug with each getting hit with a 15-yard penalty.

Blue Jays visit Elton

ELTON – The District 4-1A battle will begin to take shape this week as St. Edmund visits Elton. The Indians lost their first three games against Lake Arthur (42-13), East Beauregard (321-18) and Rosepine (43-20). Elton then earned district wins over Grand Lake (42-16) and Hamilton Christian (16-0).

Bobcats look to rebound

PORT BARRE – Eunice led 20-6 against Church Point as the game moved to the fourth quarter, but the Bears exploded for 16 points in the final period to rally for a 22-20 win over the Bobcats.

Blue Jays run

For the third week in a row, the Blue Jay defense recorded a shut out as St. Edmund rolled to a 31-0 homecoming win over South Cameron. “It was a great job to earn the win,” St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder said.

Bears rally past Bobcats

The District 5-3A battle between the Eunice Bobcats and the Church Point Bears saw both teams providing their fans with highlights on both offense and defense, with the Bears finally claiming the victory by a by a 22-20 margin in back-and-forth action in Friday night at Bobcat Field.

Bulldogs not looking past Mamou

The undefeated Iota Bulldogs (4-0) will be on the road this Friday to take on the winless Mamou Demons.

Bobcats, Bears collide

Heading in to the Church Point game last year, the Bobcats had a 1-3 record. Not many expected Eunice to begin the 2018 season 4-0 with wins over Opelousas (53-36), Jennings (33-23), Rayne (36-14) and Crowley (36-32). “We exceeded what we thought was possible,” EHS head coach Paul Trosclair said.
