LAKE CHARLES – The Blue Jays sealed at least a share of the District 4-1A title Friday night as St. Edmund grabbed a 280-12 win over Hamilton Christian.
The Eunice High Bobcats rallied for two touchdowns in the second half to claim a 14-7 victory over the Northwest High Raiders in district 5-3A football action at Bobcat Stadium on Thursday.
St. Edmund moved one step closer to the District 4-1A title with a 29-7 homecoming win over Grand Lake.
The Blue Jays (7-1, 5-0) travel to Hamilton Christian (2-5, 2-3) with a chance to seal at least a share of the title.
Since 2009, the Bobcats are 7-1 over the Raiders, as Eunice has outscored Northwest 293 to 131 points.
But the Raiders grabbed a 14-7 win last season to earn the district title as Northwest rolled to a 12-2 quarterfinal finish.
BASILE – A combination of a time consuming ground game and a suffocating defensive effort gave the Basile Bearcats a huge 14-0 win over the Oberlin Tigers here Friday night in a key district match-up for both squads.
